Clinical rotations in the context of medical education in the US refer to the supervised hands-on training that medical students undergo in various clinical settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. During clinical rotations, students apply their theoretical knowledge gained during the pre-clinical years of medical school to real-life patient care under the supervision of experienced physicians and healthcare professionals.
Clinical rotations are essential for medical students to develop clinical skills, diagnostic reasoning, patient management skills, and to understand the practical aspects of healthcare delivery. Successful completion of clinical rotations is a critical component of medical education and is necessary for subsequent licensure and residency in the US
